​​My Philosophy: Art as Connection
I approach every illustration as a tactile conversation between the hand and the page. By intentionally choosing a handmade-focused process, I embrace the rhythmic imperfections that only traditional tools can provide. This isn’t just about technique; it’s about creating a “natural analog” for the viewer. For a (renewed) connection with nature and oneself. My ink lines, mixed media applications and paper textures offer a sensory warmth that mirrors the unpredictability and life found as in a forest or a garden.

My work at Illustrationary is a personal exploration of biophilia - the quiet, powerful instinct that draws us back to the natural world. I believe that in an increasingly digital landscape, we need the “human trace” more than ever to feel grounded and restored.​

The Philosophy of the “Handmade”

So, biophilia isn’t just about looking at a leaf; it’s about recognizing the organic imperfections and rhythms of life. My handmade focus aligns with this through:
 

• The Human Trace: In a world of sterile, AI-generated perfections, I prefer to create  hand-drawn lines that provide a “non-rhythmic sensory stimulus.” This mimics the slight unpredictability found in nature - like the sway of a branch - which is proven to reduce viewer stress.

• Material Honesty: By using traditional tools (e.g. ink, paper, graphite) I create a “natural analog.” Research indicates that the grain of the paper or the bleed of the ink reflects the raw textures people are biologically wired to find comforting. Even my art prints capture this to facilitate an experience similar to the real thing.  ​​

My Goals + How you benefit
Ultimately, my illustrations, artworks and embellished products are an invitation to you to slow down... Whether it’s through the gaze of a hand-drawn creature or the flow of a biomorphic vine, I want my work to bring a sense of biological harmony into your space, fostering the same well-being we feel when we step outside.​ 

 

My intent is to help people feel grounded and restored in an increasingly digital world by infusing the human trace into art inspired by our instinctual bond with nature.

Furthermore, I wish to make an even bigger impact on society by supporting a good cause, such as to counteract the global trend of loneliness many people - young and old - increasingly experience. Hence, a percentage of each purchase will go to charity.

 

In addition, I've chosen only select business partners to achieve the best possible carbon footprint by producing/printing/shipping locally. I believe that sustainable measures & logistics contribute to a better environment and world, for all of us.
